Tree Pruning

Q1

Do you have overgrown elm trees?  Are your cottonwood trees shedding big branches way up above your house?  Have you let your fruit trees go too long without a haircut?  You need some tree pruning!

At Baby Gorilla Tree Service we specialize in revealing the natural beauty of trees.  Trimming a tree helps a tree live a long healthy life; makes trees resistant to pathogens, insects, and disease; and increases property value.  Most of the time your trees can be pruned without the use of big heavy machinery.  We love to climb trees when we can to minimize our impact on your job site but we have all the large equipment when they are called for as well.  We DO NOT spike trees when pruning, so as not to damage the tree and leave spike holes that attract disease and insects; as well as leaving ugly marks in the bark.  Our arborists use some fancy tools to set climbing lines high up in the tree for trimming, then they climb up the line using foot ascenders and special climbing knots or devices.  Once in the tree, we can easily swing from branch to branch, accessing even the highest parts of your tree.

Do you need your whole tree trimmed so it can grow and live a long time? Or do you just need one or two branches pruned off that are threatening to damage your house?  Our owner and arborist Anthony will give you his honest, expert opinion so that you can make a well informed decision about your tree trimming job!

Anthony of Baby Gorilla has helped us with pruning twice within the past five years, the first time on an ancient and beloved silver poplar and the second an apricot tree in front of our home. With the apricot tree, Anthony presented two choices for trimming, one a light pruning to enhance it as a beautiful spreading tree and the other a more intense pruning to help the tree bear larger fruit. Anthony and his crew did a great job pruning and with clean up. While he was at it, he removed a thirty foot high volunteer elm that was crowding out some of our small trees. We won the second pruning as part of Anthony's donation to the Dixon Volunteer Fire Department's annual pancake breakfast. Anthony is also a volunteer firefighter with DVFD.
